We were inspired to try a new broccoli cheese soup by a recent visit to Sara’s Secrets by the author of The Secrets of Jesuit Soupmaking: A Year of Our Soups (although there’s no broccoli in the cheddar cheese soup recipe in that book).
We don’t include a recipe tonight, because we didn’t care all that much for the dish. We’re not sure what the source of our problems were – we suspect some old sherry or bad transcription in the amount of sherry. Basically, there was too strong a taste of sherry. We’ll add some potatoes for lunch tomorrow to try to tame the taste (which did end up working).
