Pizza Bread

Pizza bread is a wonderful, simple meal that almost everyone loves. We used some fresh bread imported directly from Brooklyn, making this dish that much better. Leftover pesto and tomato sauce create two very different tastes tonight.

Ingredients

We pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees. In addition to slicing the bread lengthwise, we also cut both the top and bottom slices in half to make the preparation a little easier. On one half, we add some leftover pesto sauce. On the other three slices, we add some leftover, defrosted tomato sauce. We add just enough of each to cover the bread, but not enough to create clumps of sauce. On each slice, we add four slices of mozzarella cheese.

We put each of the pizza breads onto a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and beginning to brown. After allowing the pizza to cool for a minute, we cut each of the pizza slices into thirds (for a total of 12). We sprinkle the romano cheese over the slices and serve with pepper flakes and oregano.
