Autumn Eggs

A few days shy of fall, we had ourselves a very autumn day. Then we had a very autumn meal.
To get into the autumn spirit, we took a trip to Valley View Farms this morning with Grammy and Boppy. The two older kids even got to ride in Grammy’s car—ever a treat. Erin, Sarah and Olivia also showed up for a morning of pumpkins and mums.

That afternoon, Chris watched football while Robin and the kids prepared dinner. Our son and our daughter helped preparing the roasted squash. Our daughter did an exceptional job preparing the seeds from the squash, getting them much cleaner that her parents do.

Our son was a pain eating the eggs and potatoes. Normally, he likes both of these, but insisted that he did not like either (“where’s my pasta?”). Eventually he ended up eating it—he was just a pain about it.

We are still adjusting to Chris’s new job, so we found ourselves with no milk yesterday morning. We went to breakfast for the first time at the Nautilus Diner. It was very good and everyone ate well. We did have leftovers though, which we finish tonight (the hashbrowns went into the frittatas). Our daughter had pancakes with blueberries (she had the leftovers tonight). Our son had froot loops. The baby had some blueberries, apples, and rice cereal.

Amazingly, the baby let our waitress hold her. This was especially surprising considering that she screamed when someone tried to say “hi” the other day at Trader Joe’s.
