A Daughter's Fame

Well, our daughter is famous. She signed her first autograph this morning, putting pen to a copy of our Baltimore Magazine article. To celebrate, we have leftovers!
In truth, we were already planning on having this meal. It was simple serendipity that brought us such a fine meal on such a momentous date. None of the dishes in the meal were leftovers, but most of the ingredients were surplus from earlier dates. The rest was pre-packaged food from Trader Joe’s.

The meal was so fine that the kids even tried most everything (it’s nice when their adventurous nature shows). Even though they tried new stuff, they mostly liked the standbys – rice, pita bread, oranges and lentils. Both kids have developed a strange attachment to steamed rice with sesame seeds, so the rice was completely gone – after the spice rack had been raided. Both kids share a fondness for the pita bread, which we served lightly toasted. Aside from that, our daughter prefers the orange slices while our son favors the lentils (he is certainly his mother’s son in that respect).

Our daughter is still tickled having signed an autograph. The nurse for Robin’s most recent pre-natal appointment told our daughter, “You’re famous!” The biggest thrill came later when one of the practitioners asked for her autograph as she and mom were heading out the door. Being dutifully doting parents, we have no doubt that this will not be her last autograph. That kid has talent!
