Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday starts with a trail of jelly beans. The trail leads from the kids’ rooms to their Easter baskets, which hold a toy or two and some Easter candies. The kids really enjoy following the trail and the Easter egg hunt that follows. Afterwards, everyone helps preparing a simple Easter brunch.
The jelly bean trail is inherited from Chris’s family. The kids really get a kick out of the idea, though our daughter was not thrilled the first time she saw it. When she was two, she came out, looked down and started to cry – wanting to know why there was a mess by her door. Lucky for our son, he has a big sister to explain all of this – she spent the better part of ten minutes last night making absolute certain that he knew what to expect (though we’re still not sure that he quite understood).

After brunch, we all head over to Grammy and Boppy’s house for more Easter festivities. The baby is still too young to serve as a playmate for her older siblings, so the kids had themselves a grand time playing with their little cousin. Our contribution to Easter dinner is a salad, based on our asparagus salad. Grammy serves some very tasty salmon and lamb, and, of course, an Easter bunny cake for dessert.
